According to Nivo News, Remo Stars Football Club has debunked circulating reports suggesting that their head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has resigned from his position. The Nigeria Premier League champions clarified that the 45-year-old tactician remains fully in charge and continues to enjoy the club’s unwavering support while managing his dual role with the Super Eagles.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speculations of Ogunmodede’s resignation gained momentum earlier in the week after several reports alleged that he had stepped down following a dispute with the club’s management. His recent absence from the touchline further intensified the rumours, especially after he missed Remo Stars’ 5-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg, the return leg, and the 3-1 defeat to Kwara United over the weekend.

However, it was later disclosed that the coach was in Abuja attending a CAF B coaching course as part of his professional development. Addressing the situation on Wednesday, the Ikenne-based club issued an official statement reaffirming its confidence in Ogunmodede. “Remo Stars Football Club wishes to clarify that our head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, remains an integral part of our technical crew and continues to serve as the head coach of Remo Stars FC. Daniel is presently attending a CAF B coaching course in Abuja as part of his continuous professional development and commitment to personal and technical growth,” the statement read.

The club also confirmed that Ogunmodede will maintain his responsibilities with the national team alongside Super Eagles manager Éric Chelle. His engagement with the national setup has seen him miss several league matches, including more than ten games last season, during which the Sky Blue Stars made history by clinching their maiden NPFL title.

“He will continue his national duties as the country prepares for the FIFA World Cup African play-offs, potential intercontinental play-offs, and the Africa Cup of Nations later this year. This is a period that calls for collective national support and dedication to Nigerian football,” the club added.

Ogunmodede, who signed a three-year contract extension in August 2024 to remain with the club until 2027, has been pivotal in Remo Stars’ impressive rise in Nigerian football. Under his leadership, the team achieved consecutive second-place finishes before finally winning their first-ever league title, cementing his reputation as one of the most promising coaches in the NPFL.

  • Legal Defense: Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identifies as the Director-General of the PFIPC, has denied accusations of forgery and impersonation. He stated he is prepared to defend himself in a court of competent jurisdiction to clear his name.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

    • Government Stance: The Presidency has labeled the PFIPC a “fictitious” organization, with spokesperson Bayo Onanuga describing Adeyemi as a “con artist” who used forged documents to impersonate a government official. Police investigations have reportedly led to an eight-count charge of forgery, impersonation, and fraud filed against Adeyemi and two associates at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

    • Adeyemi’s Allegations: Adeyemi denies all wrongdoing and claims his legal troubles stem from a dispute with the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. He alleged that the disagreement began after he refused a request from the Chief of Staff for a 48 per cent share of the agency’s ₦27.39 billion take-off grant. He further claimed that ₦400 million was collected by proxy and demanded an independent investigation by President Bola Tinubu.

    • Budgetary Discrepancies: The controversy is compounded by the appearance of the organization in the 2026 Appropriation Bill, which listed an allocation of ₦1.303 billion for the entity.

    • Procedural Details: While the Presidency maintains that the agency does not exist and alleges that Adeyemi attempted to use fraudulent documents to open bank accounts, they noted that no government funds were successfully transferred into those accounts. The case is scheduled to proceed in the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 27.
