Okpebholo Declares War On Reckless Borrowing, Secures Edo’s Financial Future

Highlighting the Radisson Hotel project as one of the significant financial burdens, Okpebholo said the project consumed approximately ₦30 billion, despite Edo State holding only a 20 percent stake, with monthly repayments of ₦380 million. He stressed that his administration remains determined to clear these obligations and restore fiscal discipline.
Ahead of his one-year anniversary in office, the Governor highlighted his administration’s achievements in security, particularly the decisive campaign against violent cultism. He said the state has become safer thanks to strategic interventions, intelligence coordination, and collaboration with security agencies, noting that Edo is now calmer and more secure than in previous years.
Okpebholo underscored that his government has invested in law enforcement through vehicles, logistics, and operational support, ensuring citizens can move freely at night and restoring confidence in governance.
