In a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the Governor said his administration has successfully curtailed violent cultism in Edo through strategic security measures, intelligence coordination, and strong political will. Okpebholo described the fight against cultism as one of the most decisive campaigns of his tenure, emphasizing that the commercialization of killing will never be tolerated under his watch.

He stressed that the campaign against violent groups is motivated purely by humanitarian concerns, not politics. “We will not commercialize killing. Every life in Edo matters. Our fight against cultism, kidnapping, and all forms of violent crime is total and irreversible,” Okpebholo said.

The Governor noted that collaboration with the police, the DSS, and other security agencies has helped restore peace, adding that Edo is now calmer and freer than it has been in recent years. “Serving the people of Edo is our priority. We are driven by the welfare of the next generation, not the next election. We came to restore order after years of fear and neglect,” he said.

Okpebholo also outlined progress in rebuilding public confidence through community engagement and professional policing, highlighting significant investments in vehicles, logistics, and operational support for law enforcement agencies. He recalled that prior to his administration, multiple cult-related killings were reported, but a coordinated approach has since restored security, allowing residents to enjoy normal nightlife in Benin and other parts of the state.

The Governor criticized the state of decay inherited from the previous administration, noting that schools across the three senatorial districts have been rehabilitated, teachers’ morale restored, and public trust renewed. He emphasized improvements in education infrastructure and rising enrollment as evidence of effective governance.

On agriculture, Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to food security, promising to open more farmlands and encourage residents to embrace farming in 2026. He also highlighted financial prudence, transparency, and accountability as key principles, stating that the government will not borrow recklessly despite inheriting ₦600 billion in debt.

The Governor referenced the Radisson Hotel project as a significant financial burden, noting that his administration continues to settle outstanding obligations to teachers, doctors, pensioners, and staff of the College of Education, Ekiadolor, in order to restore fiscal stability.

Okpebholo concluded by affirming that the achievements so far are just the beginning. “We have subdued violent cultism, restored safety, revived schools, reawakened agriculture, and reclaimed public trust. But we are not done. We are rebuilding Edo, step by step, until every citizen experiences the peace, progress, and prosperity we promised,” he said.

The Nigerian military has launched a highly effective precision airstrike against a prominent bandit enclave in Dogon Dawa, located along the borders of Niger, Kaduna, and Zamfara states.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to security insiders who briefed Zagazola Makama, the preemptive strike was initiated after intelligence detected a massive convergence of armed bandits preparing to launch coordinated attacks on surrounding communities.

Key Highlights of the Operation:

  • Preemptive Neutralization: The aerial bombardment successfully hit the militant gathering, killing numerous bandits and severely crippling their immediate tactical plans.

  • Logistical Disruption: Post-strike operational intelligence revealed that hundreds of motorcycles were staged at the site, ready to facilitate a large-scale assault across the border axis.

  • Scattered Survivors: A thorough battle damage assessment indicated that the surviving militants—many sustaining severe injuries—fled via the Mangwaro axis into the deep forests between Shadadi and Ma’undu.

Strategic Impact The successful airstrike has shattered the bandits’ local command hierarchy and stripped them of their freedom to maneuver in the region. Security sources noted that this mission highlights a deliberate shift toward intelligence-driven air offensives, aimed at tracking and decimating criminal formations before they can harm civilians.

Furthermore, the operation underscores the strengthening synergy between ground intelligence agencies and the Air Component in neutralizing high-value targets throughout the North-West and North-Central theaters.
