Alcohol And Phones Behind 1 in 7 Lagos Road Crashes, FRSC Sounds Alarm
According to official statements from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), over 15 per cent of road traffic crashes in Lagos State in 2024 were attributed to driver distractions. This disclosure was made by the Lagos Sector Commander, Kehinde Hamzat, during the 2025 Ember Months Public Enlightenment and Sensitisation Campaign held on Thursday in Lagos.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The campaign, organised in collaboration with Guinness Nigeria Ltd., carried the theme, “Take Responsibility for Your Safety – Stop Distracted Driving.” Hamzat highlighted that common distractions, despite existing laws and continuous public awareness efforts, include mobile phone use while driving and gaming.
“Today’s event is a call to action for drivers, commuters, pedestrians, law enforcement officers, and all stakeholders to take personal responsibility for road safety. Safety on our roads is a shared responsibility, not solely that of federal authorities or enforcement agencies,” Hamzat said.
He explained that the FRSC’s approach aligns with the five pillars of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety, aiming to achieve zero fatalities even when crashes occur. These pillars include effective road safety management, safer roads and mobility, safer vehicles, informed road users, and prompt post-crash care to ensure victims receive timely medical attention.
Assistant Corps Marshal Ann Oladayo, Zonal Commanding Officer for Lagos and Ogun States, represented by Corps Commander Anthony Daudu, stressed that the Ember Months campaign seeks to heighten public awareness about safety during a period when increased activity and haste often contribute to accidents. She advised patience, responsible conduct, and avoidance of drunk driving, emphasizing that life has no duplicate.
Rotimi Odusola, Corporate Relations Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc., reinforced that alcohol consumption while driving constitutes a dangerous distraction and a criminal offence. He urged the public to take responsibility for their safety and avoid combining drinking with driving.
The campaign saw participation from Special Marshals, the National Union of Road Traffic Workers, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, National Emergency Management Agency (Lagos office), chiefs from Ojodu and Isheri Kingdoms, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Nigerian Police, and Truck and Cargo Operators.

FIERY RETRIBUTION! Military Jets Rain Hellfire On Bandit Strongholds Along Niger-Kaduna-Zamfara Border!.
The Nigerian military has launched a highly effective precision airstrike against a prominent bandit enclave in Dogon Dawa, located along the borders of Niger, Kaduna, and Zamfara states.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to security insiders who briefed Zagazola Makama, the preemptive strike was initiated after intelligence detected a massive convergence of armed bandits preparing to launch coordinated attacks on surrounding communities.
Key Highlights of the Operation:
-
Preemptive Neutralization: The aerial bombardment successfully hit the militant gathering, killing numerous bandits and severely crippling their immediate tactical plans.
-
Logistical Disruption: Post-strike operational intelligence revealed that hundreds of motorcycles were staged at the site, ready to facilitate a large-scale assault across the border axis.
-
Scattered Survivors: A thorough battle damage assessment indicated that the surviving militants—many sustaining severe injuries—fled via the Mangwaro axis into the deep forests between Shadadi and Ma’undu.
Strategic Impact The successful airstrike has shattered the bandits’ local command hierarchy and stripped them of their freedom to maneuver in the region. Security sources noted that this mission highlights a deliberate shift toward intelligence-driven air offensives, aimed at tracking and decimating criminal formations before they can harm civilians.
Furthermore, the operation underscores the strengthening synergy between ground intelligence agencies and the Air Component in neutralizing high-value targets throughout the North-West and North-Central theaters.
