Peace At Last: Natasha Akpoti Invites Akpabio, Senators To Kogi For Project Commissioning.

Published

on

According to Nivo News, the long-standing tension between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central and Senate President Godswill Akpabio appears to have eased, following the senator’s invitation to Akpabio and her colleagues to attend the commissioning of her constituency projects in Kogi State next week.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The development became public on Thursday when Akpabio read Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s letter of invitation during plenary. In the letter personally signed by the Kogi lawmaker, she invited her colleagues to Ihima, Kogi State, on Sunday for the commissioning ceremony marking her second anniversary in the Senate.

“In marking my second year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” part of the letter read.

According to the letter, the meeting point for the event will be Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s residence at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State, while senators arriving by air are advised to land at the Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to the venue by road.

After reading the letter, a visibly pleased Akpabio congratulated his colleague, saying, “Congratulations in advance.” The invitation is being viewed as a significant step toward reconciling both lawmakers, whose relationship had soured earlier this year.

Their fallout over seat reallocation in the Senate chamber had escalated into a major dispute, which led to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension on March 6. Since her return to plenary on September 24, she has steadily re-engaged with Senate leadership, actively participating in legislative discussions, including her recent contribution to the Criminal Code Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Thursday’s public acknowledgment of her invitation by Akpabio marks the clearest sign yet that the two lawmakers may have finally buried the hatchet.
