Mystery Deepens: Late Ondo SDP Candidate’s Family Seeks Truth On Autopsy Report.
The family of the late Bamidele Akingboye, former Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 Ondo State election, has called on the Lagos State Police Command to provide clarification over conflicting reports surrounding the autopsy conducted into his death.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the family expressed concern that while the police had assured them that both the autopsy result and the investigation findings remained in official custody, some media reports claimed otherwise.
During a meeting with the family on Friday, October 24, 2025, police officials reportedly stated that the autopsy result was still being held as part of ongoing inquiries. However, a subsequent publication on Saturday, October 25, quoted the late politician’s second wife, Mrs. Christianah Akingboye, as saying she had seen the report—an assertion the family found troubling.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Pastor Akinyele Akingboye urged the Commissioner of Police to confirm the current status of the report and to ensure that no unauthorized individuals have access to it. “We want the Commissioner to confirm whether the autopsy report is still with the police and if any third party has legitimate access. Anything contrary undermines the credibility of the investigation,” he said.
The deceased’s eldest son, Samuel Akingboye, reaffirmed the family’s faith in the ongoing police investigation, saying they were awaiting the final outcome. “As we were informed, the autopsy result is with the police, and we’ve been assured the process will soon be concluded,” he stated.
Mr. Oyeniyi Iwakun, who served as Personal Assistant and Media Adviser to the late politician, said he was closely following the matter but would not comment publicly until the police release their official findings. He recounted that he was in Okitipupa, Ondo State, when he first heard the news of Akingboye’s death, later confirming that it occurred at his Victoria Garden City residence in Lagos.
The family appealed to the Lagos State Police Command to expedite its investigation and make the findings public to dispel growing speculation surrounding the circumstances of Akingboye’s death.

“Yusuf’s Defection Is A Betrayal of Kwankwaso – Galadima”.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has slammed Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s defection to the APC, calling it a betrayal driven by personal survival rather than the interests of Kano people.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Buba Galadima, Secretary of the NNPP Board of Trustees, told Arise News that aligning with former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, a longtime rival of NNPP leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, undermined the very movement that brought Yusuf to power.
Galadima said, “This defection is about his personal interest, not Kano’s. If he had moved to any party other than APC, we could have understood it. But this is purely survival.”
Recalling the effort behind Yusuf’s gubernatorial victory, Galadima added, “Kwankwaso and I worked day and night for him to win. Seeing him raise hands with Ganduje is bitter—he abandoned the principles that sustained him.”
He insisted Yusuf had already lost grassroots support in Kano and claimed, “If there were a free election today, he wouldn’t get five per cent of the votes.”
Despite the setback, Galadima vowed that the NNPP would survive, asserting, “What stopped God from performing a miracle before cannot stop Him again.”

“Nigerian Stars Osimhen, Lookman In Do-Or-Die Champions League Battles Tonight”.
Nigerian footballers across Europe are gearing up for crucial UEFA Champions League group-stage matches tonight, January 28, as clubs fight to keep their continental dreams alive.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Osimhen’s Galatasaray Faces Tough Test
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen leads the spotlight as his team travels to Manchester City. The Turkish side is perilously close to elimination, and any slip could end their Champions League campaign. Currently 17th in the standings with 10 points from seven matches, Galatasaray needs a disciplined performance to stay in the hunt. Osimhen, who has scored six goals in five appearances, has urged his team to “make a statement in the most prestigious games.”
Lookman Chasing Top-Eight Finish
Ademola Lookman and Atalanta still hope to finish in the top eight, but last week’s 3-2 defeat to Athletic Bilbao left no room for error. Sitting on 13 points with a +1 goal difference, Atalanta travel to Union Saint-Gilloise knowing only a win will keep their top-eight ambitions alive. Lookman, in fine form after the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, has contributed one goal and two assists in six appearances this season.
Tella and Leverkusen on the Edge
Nathan Tella’s Bayer Leverkusen are also in a precarious position. With nine points and 20th place in their group, the German side must beat Villarreal—or hope for favorable results elsewhere—to secure a play-off spot. Their slim goal difference means even a draw might not suffice.
Onyedika, Onyemaechi, and Narrow Margins
Raphael Onyedika’s Club Brugge face Marseille in a must-win clash, sitting 27th with seven points. Qualification will also depend on results from other groups. Meanwhile, Bruno Onyemaechi could feature for Olympiacos, who occupy the final qualifying spot with eight points. The Greek side need at least a draw at Ajax and will monitor goal difference closely.
Ilenikhena Eyes More History at Monaco
At Monaco, 19-year-old George Ilenikhena faces a pivotal night. Sitting 21st with nine points, Monaco must win at home against Juventus to strengthen their qualification chances. Ilenikhena recently became the youngest African player to reach 15 Champions League appearances, surpassing Kanu Nwankwo at just 19 years and 157 days.
Tonight’s fixtures promise drama and high stakes for Nigeria’s football stars across Europe, as each club battles for survival or progression in the Champions League.
