Ukachukwu secured the APC ticket after emerging victorious in the party’s primary election earlier in the year. His candidacy was ratified on April 19, 2025, by the then APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who presented him with the certificate of return to represent the party in the forthcoming governorship race.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, endorsed the primary results, confirming Ukachukwu’s victory with 1,455 votes. Following his emergence, he announced Ekwunife Uche Lilian as his running mate, a strategic choice aimed at strengthening the party’s chances in the state.
The APC described the duo as a formidable combination of political experience and grassroots influence, expected to challenge Soludo’s dominance and the long-standing APGA presence in Anambra politics.
Popularly known as Ikukuoma Ndi Igbo, Ukachukwu declared his mission to transform Anambra into a prosperous, self-sustaining state built on youth empowerment, infrastructure growth, job creation, and transparent leadership. His campaign slogan, “Anambra ga-adi mma ozo!” (Anambra will be better again), reflects his commitment to progress and reform.
Born on March 20, 1967, in Dimala village, Osumenyi, Nnewi South Local Government Area, Ukachukwu is the son of Chief Nnadialor and Madam Loveline Ukachukwu. He attended Omaigwe Primary School and Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS), Onitsha, before earning a degree in Business Administration from the University of Calabar. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from Tansian University, Anambra State, conferred in 2016.
Ukachukwu began his entrepreneurial journey in 1987 and went on to establish the SNECOU Group Limited, a conglomerate with interests spanning oil and gas, real estate, agriculture, media, construction, and education. His flagship projects include Prince & Princess Estate, Good Homes Estate, and Shalom Villa Estate in Abuja, developed in partnership with the Federal Government. He also founded the British Nigeria Academy and the European University of Nigeria (EUN).
Currently serving as chairman of Snecou Financial Services, Niccus Industries Ltd, and Phil-Tech Oil & Gas Services Ltd, Ukachukwu has built an empire that provides thousands of jobs across the country.
His political career took off in 1997 when he was elected Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), becoming the first non-indigene to hold that position. In 1999, he won a seat in the House of Representatives under the PDP, representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency. During his tenure, he chaired key committees on the FCT and Oil and Gas and facilitated several developmental projects, including market allocations for Ndi-Igbo traders.
Though he was elected Senator for Anambra South in 2003, his mandate was short-lived. Ukachukwu has since made multiple bids for Anambra’s top seat, contesting under the PPA in 2006, HDP in 2010, and APGA in 2019 for the Senate. His current campaign under the APC banner represents his most significant political endeavor yet.
Beyond business and politics, Ukachukwu is deeply involved in philanthropy, offering scholarships, healthcare initiatives, and youth empowerment programmes across Nigeria. His humanitarian work and investments in human capital development have earned him numerous recognitions, including:
-
Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) – 2008
-
ALGON Philanthropic Personality of the Year Award
-
WTO and NUJ Man of the Year Awards
-
International honors from the State of Ohio, USA
Ukachukwu was married to the late Mrs. Nnenna Ukachukwu until her passing in 2020, and they shared five children. In December 2023, he remarried Mitchel Ihezue, Miss Universe Nigeria 2023.
