According to a statement released on Monday, October 27, 2025, by INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, the collection period, initially scheduled to end on Sunday, October 26, will now run from Wednesday, October 29, to Sunday, November 2. The extension aims to accommodate citizens and stakeholders who requested additional time for eligible voters to obtain their PVCs.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards in Anambra State,” the statement read. “The exercise, originally set to conclude on October 26, will now continue from October 29 to November 2, 2025, covering individuals who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the state.”

INEC urged registered voters yet to collect their PVCs to visit the designated collection centres across the state’s 326 registration areas, emphasizing that cards must be collected in person. “No collection by proxy is allowed,” Eta-Messi stressed.

The commission expressed gratitude to Anambra residents for their cooperation and active participation since the exercise began. “INEC appreciates the patience, enthusiasm, and cooperation of the people of Anambra State and encourages all eligible voters to seize this opportunity to collect their PVCs and prepare for the upcoming governorship election,” the statement added.

Earlier, INEC confirmed that Anambra State is fully prepared for the November 8 poll following a week-long readiness assessment conducted by a high-level delegation from its Abuja headquarters. The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.
