Speaking at the 29th Retirement Benefit Documentation Seminar organised by the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro—represented by the Director of Service, Mrs. Bukola Oyedola—commended the retirees for their unwavering service and significant contributions to the state’s progress.

Agoro lauded LASPEC for maintaining consistency in organising the seminar, describing it as a vital platform that equips officers for life beyond public service. He noted that the exercise reflects the state government’s deep appreciation for its workforce, emphasizing that once documentation is duly completed, LASPEC will ensure the swift processing and remittance of retirement benefits.

He further praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration for prioritising workers’ welfare and ensuring that retirees remain well-supported after active service.

Agoro also commended the collaboration between LASPEC and Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs), describing it as key to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the state’s pension management system. He noted that retirees can now access pension-related assistance and services at LASPEC’s new office within the Lagos State Revenue House, Alausa, Ikeja.

The Director-General of LASPEC, Mr. Babalola Obilana, explained that the 29th Retirement Documentation Seminar was designed for officers scheduled to retire between January and June 2026, with the goal of preparing them for a fulfilling post-service life.

Obilana described retirement as both a milestone and a new beginning—a time to enjoy the rewards of years of dedication while exploring new opportunities for personal growth and contribution to society.

He stated that participants would receive guidance on crucial aspects of retirement planning, including pension administration, financial management, healthcare, legal issues, and emotional preparedness. The sessions, he said, would be facilitated by seasoned experts aimed at helping retirees approach the next chapter of their lives with confidence and clarity.

“Retirement is not an end but a new phase of fulfillment and purpose,” Obilana remarked, assuring the retirees that their sacrifices and commitment had not gone unnoticed by the state. He encouraged them to view retirement as a transition into a rewarding period where they can continue to make meaningful impacts in new ways.

Political Earthquake: PMP Exposed As “Ghost Party” In Shocking NDC Deregistration Twist!.

Published

on

Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central, has accused unnamed political actors of weaponizing the Peace Movement Party (PMP) to prevent the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) from participating in the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Senator Umeh argued that the ongoing legal challenges regarding the NDC’s logo are politically motivated. He dismissed claims of trademark infringement, asserting that the “victory-sign” logo is a universal symbol and not the exclusive property of the PMP.

Key points from the Senator’s claims include:

  • Timing of Legal Action: Umeh noted that legal efforts to nullify the NDC’s registration began immediately after high-profile figures—including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso—joined the party on May 3, 2026.

  • Contention Over Logo Rights: He maintained that since the PMP is not a registered party with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), it cannot legally claim exclusive rights to the victory-sign symbol.

  • Status of the NDC: The senator’s comments follow a Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja, which recently set aside an earlier judgment that had ordered INEC to register the NDC.

The NDC has stated that it will continue to challenge these developments in court to ensure its eligibility for the 2027 electoral cycle.

According to security insiders who briefed Zagazola Makama, the preemptive strike was initiated after intelligence detected a massive convergence of armed bandits preparing to launch coordinated attacks on surrounding communities.

Key Highlights of the Operation:

  • Preemptive Neutralization: The aerial bombardment successfully hit the militant gathering, killing numerous bandits and severely crippling their immediate tactical plans.

  • Logistical Disruption: Post-strike operational intelligence revealed that hundreds of motorcycles were staged at the site, ready to facilitate a large-scale assault across the border axis.

  • Scattered Survivors: A thorough battle damage assessment indicated that the surviving militants—many sustaining severe injuries—fled via the Mangwaro axis into the deep forests between Shadadi and Ma’undu.

Strategic Impact The successful airstrike has shattered the bandits’ local command hierarchy and stripped them of their freedom to maneuver in the region. Security sources noted that this mission highlights a deliberate shift toward intelligence-driven air offensives, aimed at tracking and decimating criminal formations before they can harm civilians.

Furthermore, the operation underscores the strengthening synergy between ground intelligence agencies and the Air Component in neutralizing high-value targets throughout the North-West and North-Central theaters.
