According to Nivo News, the company confirmed in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by its Community Affairs and Security Manager, Bernard Ewubare, that all issues surrounding the tax deductions had been thoroughly clarified and resolved in collaboration with the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service (RIRS).

Ewubare explained that the clarification process was conducted with the full cooperation of RIRS officials, adding that the agency had verified DECN’s tax compliance status and confirmed that all deductions, remittances, and filings were accurately executed in accordance with Nigerian tax laws.

“Following earlier misunderstandings regarding tax deductions and clearance certificates, DECN sought a formal review from the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service,” Ewubare stated. “During the verification process, RIRS confirmed that all Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) and Tax Clearance Certificates (TCCs) issued to DECN personnel are authentic, valid, and duly issued. The review also affirmed that there are no outstanding liabilities or discrepancies associated with the company.”

To prevent a recurrence of such incidents, DECN organized a one-day sensitization workshop for its workforce, demonstrating how employees can independently verify their tax information online through the RIRS platform. The initiative, the company said, was aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and employee confidence.

The firm also expressed appreciation to the RIRS, Bonny Local Government Council, the Welders and Fitters Association, the media, and other stakeholders for their support in resolving the matter.

Ewubare reaffirmed DECN’s commitment to transparency, due process, and corporate governance, assuring that the company will continue to uphold a trustworthy and compliant operational culture as it advances work on the NLNG Train 7 Project.

It would be recalled that a group of welders and fitters had recently protested at the project site, alleging that the company failed to remit their tax deductions. The situation, which briefly disrupted activities and led to minor damage to company property, was quickly brought under control following the management’s intervention. DECN maintained that all taxes deducted were duly remitted to the appropriate state and federal authorities.

In a statement issued on Sunday, National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka clarified that the party has not yet published any official results.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Official Procedures for Candidates To ensure clarity, the party outlined the standard process for confirming successful aspirants:

  • The APC will notify successful candidates directly through its established, official communication channels.

  • Certificates of Return will be issued to these candidates only after they have been formally notified.

  • The party has urged members, stakeholders, and the public to disregard any unauthorized reports, emphasizing that such claims are false and should not be treated as official information.

APC Responds to Peter Obi’s Allegations In separate political developments, Dr. George Agbakahi, an APC chieftain in the South-East, has strongly rejected claims by former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi that there is a plot to block his candidacy for the 2027 election. Dr. Agbakahi labeled the allegations as “baseless, unfortunate, and politically motivated”.

  • Agbakahi challenged the need for credible evidence, stating that any accusations of executive interference in the electoral process must be supported by verifiable proof.

  • He noted that there is no public evidence suggesting that the Federal Government or the Presidency is attempting to prevent qualified opposition figures from participating in the 2027 race.

  • Addressing concerns regarding the Nigeria Democratic Congress, he clarified that the party’s current legal challenges are the result of internal political disputes rather than government action, and he reminded the public that the Nigerian judiciary remains an independent body where parties can seek legal redress.
