Speaking during an interactive session tagged “An Uncommon Evening with the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio” at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth House in Abuja, the Senate President emphasized the importance of positive thinking and active participation in nation-building. The event, organized by APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel, was described as an avenue for engagement and mentorship between the Senate President and young party members.
According to Nivo News, Akpabio urged the youths to channel their energy toward constructive change rather than despair, stressing that progress takes time. “The world was not built in a day. If you feel discouraged about Nigeria’s future, do something about it. As a young person, you can change Nigeria by doing the right thing—start by cleaning your environment, sharing what you have, and showing love to one another,” he said.
He encouraged the participants not to lose faith despite the challenges confronting the country. “Don’t mind the situation you see today. The evil and poverty around you shall be no more. Believe strongly and have faith in your country. Your time will come, and Nigeria will change,” Akpabio declared.
The Senate President reminded the youths that mental strength is vital to overcoming adversity. “Ensure your mind is stronger than your body. Believe in your mind that your country shall be better, that you will succeed in life, and that you will be an agent of change for your generation,” he added.
Akpabio praised the APC, describing it as a party built on purpose and vision. “APC is not an accident. It is a vehicle of transformation, leadership, and change—the only stable political party in Nigeria that can guarantee your future victory,” he noted.
He told the young audience that they are not just the leaders of tomorrow but of today. “Do not wait to be leaders of tomorrow. You are leaders of today. Discover your mission of uniting Nigeria, of loving one another, and of gaining respect for the country through integrity and service,” he said.
Responding to a question about his motivation for joining politics, Akpabio said his journey was inspired by a determination to change his circumstances. “Anger inspired me to go into politics. If you are not angry about the situation of your family, you will not have the drive to change it,” he explained.
