According to Nivo News, the state-of-the-art facility features high-speed internet connectivity and advanced digital infrastructure to ensure smooth and transparent examination processes. The centre, which can accommodate over 400 applicants per session, provides a conducive environment for candidates, with plans to replicate similar setups across the state.
During his visit, Governor Eno, accompanied by the Head of Service, Elder Effiong Essien; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; and Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong, commended the project team for their remarkable work. He emphasized the importance of merit-based recruitment in strengthening the civil service, noting that a competent and well-trained workforce is essential for effective governance.
“The Civil Service is the engine room of governance. If we don’t get the Civil Service right, we will never get governance right,” Eno stated, underscoring the administration’s resolve to improve efficiency and professionalism within the system.
The governor also highlighted the significance of technological advancement, stressing the need for workers to be computer literate and adaptable to emerging tools such as Artificial Intelligence. He noted that the CBT system would eliminate favoritism and ensure that only qualified candidates are employed based on competence and merit.
Eno remarked that the new recruitment method would make applicants more prepared and accountable, allowing them to understand the requirements and improve themselves if unsuccessful on their first attempt.
In his remarks, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong lauded Governor Eno’s digital transformation agenda, describing the initiative as a step towards creating a more competent and confident civil service. He confirmed that the centre is ready to host the recruitment examinations, which are expected to commence within the next ten days.
Elder Effiong Essien, the Head of Service, also appreciated the governor’s reforms, assuring that the CBT system was designed to be user-friendly and within the capacity of applicants to navigate successfully.
Governor Eno’s inspection and subsequent directives reaffirm his administration’s commitment to meritocracy, transparency, and digital excellence in public service operations across Akwa Ibom State.
