Published

Legend Internet Plc, a fast-growing indigenous broadband provider, has secured its first-ever investment-grade rating from Agusto & Co., marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth trajectory. According to Nivo News, Agusto & Co. assigned Legend Internet a long-term corporate rating of “Bbb-” and a short-term rating of “A3” with a Stable Outlook, underscoring the firm’s solid fundamentals and expansion prospects.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Industry analysts noted that Legend’s strategic pause in new customer activations during Abuja’s large-scale infrastructure construction has allowed the company to position itself for more efficient growth once disruptions ease. The Nigerian Communications Commission’s recent approval of a 50 per cent tariff hike is also expected to strengthen the broadband company’s revenue base and cash flow.

Chief Executive Officer of Legend Internet, Aisha Abdulaziz, described the rating as a landmark achievement since the firm’s incorporation in 2021, emphasizing that it validates the company’s prudent financial discipline, cash-driven operations, and low leverage profile. She highlighted the company’s extensive fibre rollout across the Federal Capital Territory, with 250,000 homes passed, 22,000 connected, and 10,000 active users, which pushed its gross profit margin to 63.9 per cent for the 2024–2025 financial year.

Abdulaziz added that the recognition also reflected the success of cost optimisation initiatives and ambitious expansion plans, including an imminent entry into Lagos via mergers and acquisitions, organic growth in Abuja, and future rollouts in Kano and Port Harcourt. She stressed that the rating would bolster investor confidence as the company prepares for a dual listing on both the Nigerian Exchange and the London Stock Exchange.

Beyond connectivity, Legend Internet continues to diversify its digital ecosystem with innovations such as LegendMail—Nigeria’s first commercial email platform, MailPay—its proprietary fintech solution, and Legend Omni-Fibre-to-the-Room (FTTR) services, delivered in partnership with Huawei.

With its upgraded status, Legend Internet is positioning itself as one of Nigeria’s leading broadband firms, creating a stable foundation to attract investment, accelerate growth, and drive deeper digital inclusion nationwide.
