Eyewitnesses revealed that the attackers inflicted violence on the monarch, his wife, and several residents of the community, leaving properties worth millions of naira destroyed in the ensuing chaos.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said ten suspects have been apprehended in connection with the attack. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has refuted claims that Nigeria is under siege, stating that security reports often fail to distinguish between isolated incidents and the general safety of the nation. Onanuga criticized media reporting for creating a false sense of widespread instability. By highlighting safe, long-distance road trips taken by himself and other officials, he argued that large parts of the country remain secure for travelers. While admitting that security challenges exist, he cautioned Nigerians against being frightened by narratives that suggest the whole country is unsafe.
Option 3: Bulleted Summary

Official Stance: The Presidency maintains that Nigeria is not under siege, despite reports of insecurity in specific locations.
-
Media Critique: Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, suggested that media outlets are contributing to public fear by reporting isolated attacks as if they represent a total national collapse.
-
Evidence of Safety: To counter concerns, Onanuga pointed to his own travel between Lagos and Oyo and the experience of the NELFUND Executive Secretary, who drove from Abuja to Kebbi, as evidence that many Nigerians still travel safely by road.
-
Call to Action: While acknowledging that security breaches occur, Onanuga urged citizens not to let these reports create unnecessary alarm, noting that night travel—previously warned against by the police—remains a factor in some incidents.
