Gobirawa Ward, known as the largest ward in Nigeria with the highest number of polling units nationwide, is seen as a strategic political stronghold. Danfulani, while addressing party officials at the Kano State APC Secretariat along Hotoro-Maiduguri Road, explained that he and his loyalists were disappointed in the leadership style of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and the policies of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the state, which he described as anti-people.
The defection ceremony was attended by key APC stakeholders, including the State Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, who was represented by the APC Zonal Chairman for Kano Central, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Ungoggo, and the Managing Director of Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Rabiu Suleiman Bichi. They formally received and welcomed the new members into the party.
Also present were APC youth leaders led by Alhaji Labaran Kura, as well as the Dala Local Government APC Chairman, Alhaji Munir Haruna, and the Gobirawa Ward Chairman. In his remarks, Abbas noted that the APC remains open to members of other political parties, including Kwankwaso himself, provided they adhere to the party’s constitution and principles.
He stressed that Danfulani’s defection from the Kwankwasiyya Movement, along with his large following, was a major boost for the APC, especially ahead of the 2027 general elections. Danfulani pledged his full loyalty to the APC, vowing to work closely with party executives and leaders to ensure victory for President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates in the forthcoming polls.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, has suggested that some Nigerians staying in the country may be in a better financial situation than those who have relocated abroad. Many Nigerians who left with hopes for better opportunities are currently struggling, despite holding university degrees and earning in foreign currencies.
-
Due to labour market realities, many graduates abroad are working in roles outside their fields of study, such as in warehouses or care facilities.
-
Although migrants may earn thousands of pounds monthly, a significant portion of their income is consumed by essential costs like rent, bills, food, and transportation.
-
Because their earnings are often insufficient to cover these living expenses, many are forced to work multiple jobs just to survive.
-
Bwala noted that the pressure of living abroad often leaves migrants with little disposable income and no safety net, whereas those earning lower incomes in Nigeria can often rely on support from friends and family.
-
Bwala described this experience for many as “modern-day slavery,” arguing that those in Nigeria who believe they are suffering are often better off than those who left five years ago.
