David Roberts Warns West: Stop Fueling False Narratives About Nigeria.

A former British diplomat, Mr. David Roberts, has backed the Federal Government in dismissing reports of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, describing such claims as misleading and exaggerated.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Roberts, who previously served as Director of the British Council in Abuja, stated that Nigeria’s security issues have been overblown by Western groups and amplified by sections of the media. According to Nivo News, he cautioned that spreading false narratives could worsen the country’s fragile situation.

Commenting on a viral video where a man with a Nigerian accent claimed that over 500,000 Christians were killed in the country last year, Roberts dismissed the figures as baseless. The video had been circulated by international influencers, including anti-Islamic platforms, sparking global debate after American talk show host Bill Maher suggested a systematic genocide was taking place in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Minister of Information, Mr. Mohammed Idris, and former presidential aide, Mr. Reno Omokri, had earlier refuted the claims as untrue. Roberts aligned with their position, stressing that both Christians and Muslims are victims of the violence. He noted that data from the Institute for Economics and Peace shows Muslims suffer even higher casualties in Nigeria’s recurring conflicts.

Drawing from his years of service in Nigeria, Roberts described the genocide allegations as “ridiculous,” adding that insecurity in the country is fueled by instability across the Sahel, where coups in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger have spilled violence into Nigeria’s northern regions. He emphasized that the crisis is not religiously one-sided, as both communities continue to pay a heavy price.

Roberts urged Western governments and international media to exercise caution in their reporting, warning that reckless narratives could inflame tensions and trigger a new wave of migration from West Africa into Europe.

APC Fires Back at Adeleke Over ₦300bn LG Funds Allegation, Blames Governor for Salary Crisis....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.

He insisted he would not abandon workers, blaming the situation for delays in executing some state projects.

But in a statement, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the claims, accusing the governor of misleading the public and shifting blame.

The party alleged that Adeleke was responsible for the salary issues, claiming he refused to release electronic payment vouchers and other financial documents needed for processing payments.

APC also said pension-related records, leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and other financial data had not been made available despite repeated appeals, insisting that funds were properly accounted for and available for use if approved.

The party urged pensioners and workers to seek clarification, insisting the situation could be resolved if the governor allowed due process to take place.
