As part of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the Nigeria @65 Compendium Project, initiated by CherryAfrica Magazine in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, continues its Interview–TV Series with top government functionaries.
Yesterday, the spotlight was on the Hon. Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, who used the platform to present a compelling account of the transformative projects and programmes of his Ministry and its agencies under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
From strategic road networks and vital link bridges to clean water initiatives and solar-powered boreholes, the Ministry has continued to roll out transformative infrastructure that uplifts communities and strengthens local economies. The NDDC has evolved from a transactional agency into a truly transformational force, complementing national development efforts with landmark infrastructure. Signature projects such as the 25.3km Ogbia–Nembe Road — featuring seven bridges and over 50 culverts — have opened up critical corridors, while substation upgrades have restored electricity to communities that endured years of blackout.
Simultaneously, the NEDC is redefining recovery and development in the North-East. With over 1000 mass housing units completed, displaced families are finding stability once again. Solar-powered boreholes and streetlights are restoring dignity and functionality to local settlements, while the emergence of mega schools, ICT centres, and hospitals reflects a renewed spirit of resilience and progress across the region.
These interventions collectively show that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan but a living reality — roads that connect communities, houses that shelter displaced families, hospitals that save lives, schools that nurture the future, and empowerment programmes that secure livelihoods.
