Crawford dominated the early rounds, pressuring Canelo consistently through the first seven exchanges before the Mexican star mounted a late rally. After a full-distance battle, the judges scored the bout 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 in favor of Crawford.

The victory, which saw Crawford move up two weight divisions to face Canelo, makes him the first male fighter in the four-belt era to become undisputed champion in three separate weight classes. He now holds all four titles at light-welterweight, welterweight, and super-middleweight. The win adds Canelo to Crawford’s list of high-profile victories, which includes Errol Spence Jr., Shawn Porter, and Kell Brook, maintaining his undefeated record at 42-0.

Reflecting on the fight in an interview with a Netflix reporter, Crawford praised his opponent, saying, “Canelo is a great champion. I have nothing but respect for him, and he fought like a champion today.” When asked about his future, Crawford added, “I’ll sit down with my team and talk about it. I just want to say thank you—to all my supporters and even my haters. Shout out to everyone who came to support Canelo. I’m happy he gets to return home to his children.”

Canelo Álvarez, gracious in defeat, lauded Crawford’s performance and expressed pride in his own career. “I’m a winner for being here. There is no defeat here. I take risks, and that’s what I have done,” he said. On the prospect of a rematch, he added, “Sharing the ring with great fighters like him is always a privilege. If we meet again, it will be great. I’ve already accomplished a lot in boxing, and my legacy is secure. Crawford is a great, skilled fighter, and I have to give him credit.”
