“No Political Comeback? El-Rufai Rules Out Any Ministerial Position”
Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has declared that serving as a minister under President Bola Tinubu was never part of his political ambition. Speaking in an interview on Sunday, El-Rufai revealed that even if he had been appointed, he would have considered resigning from the cabinet.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to reports, El-Rufai disclosed that President Tinubu personally appealed to him to join his administration, but he declined, insisting he had no desire to return to ministerial office. “I would have probably resigned if I was a minister in Tinubu’s government. I have no desire to be a minister. I don’t care what people are saying now. I have been a minister when I was much younger,” he said.
It will be recalled that El-Rufai was earlier nominated as Minister of Power but allegedly failed to secure security clearance for the position.
Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State has refuted claims by El-Rufai that its entire political structure has collapsed. Over the weekend, El-Rufai and some opposition figures announced that the SDP structure in Kaduna had merged into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following a strategic meeting.
Reacting to the claim, the SDP, in a statement signed by its State Chairman, Adamu Idris, maintained that its structures remain solid and fully functional. The party accused El-Rufai of attempting to sow discord, recalling that his brief involvement with the SDP was riddled with internal disputes. The statement stressed that the party has since regained stability and is focused on strengthening its role as a credible opposition force in Kaduna State.
