“Former Governor Alleges State Complicity In Kaduna Attacks: ‘I Have Solid Proof’”
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has accused his successor, Governor Uba Sani, of orchestrating a violent attack against him and other opposition figures in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Reports indicate that chaos erupted on Saturday during the inauguration of a transition committee jointly formed by opposition parties in Kaduna, when suspected political thugs stormed the venue, assaulting participants and vandalizing property.
Speaking on Channels Television on Sunday, El-Rufai alleged that he has credible evidence linking the state governor to the incident and pledged to present it to the Inspector General of Police and other authorities. “I have evidence; Kaduna State Governor is behind Saturday’s attacks. I will submit evidence to the IGP and other authorities if they care to investigate,” he said.
El-Rufai further decried the state of Nigeria’s security apparatus, claiming that police officers were present but failed to intervene during the attack.
While addressing political developments in Kaduna on Wednesday, El-Rufai maintained that he has no interest in contesting for any political office, insisting that his renewed involvement in politics is motivated solely by a desire to support credible leadership at both state and national levels.
“This is a government that does nothing but lie every day. Everyone’s conscience tells them the truth. I am not contesting for anything; I don’t want to go to the Senate. I am not contesting for any position. That is why I am calling on you: let us join hands and ensure we remove the oppressors,” he told a group of People’s Democratic Party youths who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress under the leadership of Aliyu Bello.
El-Rufai explained that his original plan after leaving office was to retire from partisan politics, but said recent events had forced him to re-engage politically, though without any personal ambition for public office.
