The national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has categorically stated that he has no intention of leaving the party for another political platform.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, Kwankwaso highlighted the NNPP’s strong performance in Kano and other states, describing the progress as a source of satisfaction for party members.

Addressing recent rumors about a possible change in his political future, Kwankwaso said the speculation was unfounded, emphasizing that the NNPP remained his political home. “We have our party, and we are comfortable. We are happy,” he said, adding that the party would move forward at its own pace.

Kwankwaso also stressed that any negotiations regarding the 2027 general election would be made collectively, upholding the principle of party supremacy. “If there will be any negotiation, it will be collective. It will not be only for the negotiators but for the entire members of this NNPP family,” he said, noting that no member of the party had expressed an interest in leaving.

He cautioned party members against being influenced by the hype surrounding defections in Nigerian politics, urging them to seek verified information from party leadership.

Reflecting on his political journey, Kwankwaso recalled losing the 2003 governorship election in Kano despite being the incumbent, citing public support for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari at the time. He noted that he returned to power eight years later, calling the experience “a good lesson for everybody,” and emphasized that Nigerians had already made up their minds about the 2027 general election.

The NNPP’s National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, praised the party as “the beautiful bride of Nigerian politics and democracy” and encouraged eligible citizens to register for their permanent voter cards ahead of 2027. Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, represented by his deputy Aminu Gwarzo, acknowledged the challenges faced by the NNPP but commended the party’s progress under Kwankwaso’s leadership, citing victories in recent by-elections that were allegedly undermined.

Bishop Isaac Idahosa, the NNPP’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, affirmed the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections, emphasizing its growing focus and strategic direction. The NEC meeting also featured appointments of caretaker committees in Kogi, Gombe, Taraba, and Jigawa states, along with an extension of the Lagos State chairman’s tenure. The event was attended by NEC-elected political officers and an INEC observer team.
