“Nollywood Star Bimbo Akintola Claims 99% Of Nigerian Men Cheat”
Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has sparked conversation with her bold remarks on relationships in Africa, claiming that infidelity is widespread among men. In a recent podcast interview with fellow actor Ayo Adesanya, Akintola argued that cheating is deeply embedded in Nigerian culture, making fidelity a rare exception rather than the norm.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
She advised women to be realistic about relationships, urging them to acknowledge the prevalence of infidelity rather than living in denial. According to the actress, “The majority of our men cheat. Your father cheated, sir. Your grandfather did. Polygamy has been part of our culture. I don’t know where this idea of fidelity came from in Africa. The reality is 90 to 99% of our men cheat. Some even grew up following their fathers to see girlfriends. You leave one man because he cheated, you go to another, the same problem.”
Akintola’s candid comments have reignited discussions about trust, loyalty, and the social realities of love and relationships in the country.
In the same interview, Akintola reflected on changes within Nollywood, contrasting the current industry with the passion-driven era in which she began her career. She noted that earlier generations of actors, including legends like Joke Silva and Sola Sobowale, prioritized craft over comfort, often working long hours without concern for pay or recognition.
The actress lamented that modern Nollywood places greater emphasis on appearance than artistry, with actors often prioritizing makeup, wardrobe, and even cosmetic procedures such as Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL). Akintola emphasized that while looks are temporary, genuine talent and dedication to the craft endure.
