According to Nivo News, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory clarified that he was disowning the statements not because he necessarily opposed the sentiments expressed, but because he never made them. He urged ADC supporters to desist from creating false quotes in his name, emphasizing that credibility, not deception, should guide political messaging.

“Dear ADC Vanguard, please stop fabricating statements and attributing them to me. I have my social media handles where I can publish my own opinions. I will disown any statements you create and attribute to me, not because I disagree with the content, but because they are not mine. This is not an honest way to represent our party or gain traction. Please stop it forthwith,” El-Rufai wrote.

Following his warning, the ADC social media team deleted the post in question and issued a public apology, pledging to ensure that only verified and authentic communications would be published going forward.
