Passenger Cries Out: ‘My Voice Was Ignored’ After Alleged Harassment On Ibom Airline
A passenger on Akwa Ibom–owned Ibom Air, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, has recounted her ordeal following an incident that led to her arrest, detention, and subsequent lifetime flight ban.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Emmanson was removed from an Ibom Air flight on August 10 after being accused of refusing to switch off her mobile phone before take-off. The situation reportedly escalated when airline officials alleged she became physically aggressive, struck a flight attendant, and had to be restrained before being escorted off the aircraft at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The airline imposed a permanent ban on her, and she was arraigned and remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre. However, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced on Wednesday that the government had directed the withdrawal of all criminal complaints against her. Following this decision, she was released from detention after the charges were struck out in court.
In a detailed statement shared on Facebook, Emmanson denied acting in an unruly manner and insisted that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding over her faulty phone. She claimed she had peacefully boarded the flight from Uyo to Lagos and explained to the cabin crew that her phone’s power button was defective, offering to hand it over if they wished to switch it off themselves.
According to her account, while one flight attendant spoke politely, another allegedly addressed her in a harsh tone, warning her to “obey if you don’t want trouble.” Emmanson said a fellow passenger eventually helped turn off the phone, but she alleged the same crew member continued to glare at her aggressively throughout the flight.
She maintained that she did not raise her voice, abuse, or threaten any member of staff. Upon landing, she claimed the attendant confronted her again, accused her of making threats, and called in security. Emmanson said she pleaded with authorities to review videos recorded by other passengers to verify her innocence, but her appeals were ignored.
“I was dragged off the aircraft like a criminal and taken straight into detention,” she stated, adding that an airline manager later presented what she described as a “false narrative,” alleging she endangered the flight.
Emmanson expressed disappointment over what she called abuse of authority but said she has forgiven everyone involved. “Everything I went through started from a faulty phone power button and a hostess who chose to intimidate me instead of helping,” she said, thanking supporters who prayed and advocated for her release.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
