In response, the Dangote Group stated that senior officials and its insurance team had visited the accident site, liaised with law enforcement, and checked on Ruth and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital. The company confirmed that she would receive full medical care and compensation in accordance with its welfare policy and extended wishes for her recovery.

However, Phyna challenged the company’s statement, disputing the use of the title “Mrs” for her sister and questioning the narrative being conveyed. She also criticized the group for allegedly turning their hospital visit into social media content, emphasizing that no cameras should be allowed at any future family meetings.

She stated, “Appropriate compensation? Quick recovery from an already amputated leg? What necessary speed are you taking right now? Let’s not forget the bike man who is also in a very critical condition. Who gave permission to photograph my family and post it online? This is disrespectful. Moving forward, no discussion or meeting should include cameras. And what do you mean by Mrs Ruth Otabor? What narratives are you trying to start?”
