According to Nivo News, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the constitution of the governing boards of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), both operating under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. The announcement, made on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed Idris Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the NCC, with Dr Aminu Waida retaining his role as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, a position he assumed following his appointment in October 2023 and subsequent Senate confirmation in November of the same year. Olorunnimbe, who previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund Board and led its Stakeholder and Governance Committee, is recognised for championing youth employment and entrepreneurship initiatives. Other NCC board members include Abraham Oshidami, Executive Commissioner for Technical Services; Rimini Makama, Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management; Hajia Maryam Bayi, former Director of Human Capital and Administration; Col Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd); Senator Lekan Mustafa; Chris Okorie; Princess Oforitsenere Emiko; and the Board Secretary. For the USPF, Dr Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, will serve as Chairman, with Olorunnimbe appointed Vice Chairman. Additional members are Abraham Oshidami; Rimini Makama; Aliyu Edogi Aliyu, representing the FMCIDE; Joseph B. Faluyi, representing the Federal Ministry of Finance; Auwal Mohammed, representing the FMBNP; Uzoma Dozie; Peter Bankole; Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon; Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri; and the USPF Secretary.
