ADC on the Brink: Internal Crisis Escalates as Members Suspend Each Other
The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has descended into a major leadership crisis, as rival factions within the party have suspended one another over allegations of anti-party activities and insubordination.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
At the centre of the turmoil is Hon. Leke Abejide, the lone ADC lawmaker in Nigeria and representative of the Yagba Federal Constituency, who has now been suspended alongside four others by the party’s State Working Committee (SWC).
Speaking to journalists on Monday, the party’s State Secretary, John Adaji, announced that Abejide, along with Dr. Idris Omede, Hon. Johnson Tayo, Lukman Usman Adedayo, and Olabode Kayode, had been suspended with immediate effect for alleged acts of insubordination and working against the party’s interests.
Adaji said the suspension, which took effect from Monday, August 4, 2025, was unanimously endorsed by members of the SWC. He further disclosed that the affected individuals have been summoned to appear before the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja next Monday for further disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the SWC passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of the State Chairman, Hon. Kingsley Temitope Ogga, and in Adaji himself as State Secretary.
However, a counter-faction within the party has rejected the suspensions and reaffirmed the expulsion of Kingsley Ogga from the ADC. Addressing the press, factional State Publicity Secretary Johnson Tayo dismissed Ogga’s claim to the chairmanship, calling it a “figment of his imagination.”
According to Tayo, Ogga was expelled from the party as far back as 2022—starting from his ward, then to the local government level—with the decision ratified by the State Executive Committee. He insisted that no reversal of Ogga’s expulsion has taken place and, as such, he has no legal standing to act or speak for the party.
Tayo also distanced the Kogi ADC from the newly formed ADC Coalition Movement led by former Senate President David Mark, declaring it as unrepresentative of the wishes of the party’s grassroots members in the state.
He maintained that Hon. Leke Abejide remains the undisputed leader of the ADC in Kogi, being the only elected official of the party nationwide.

The Bangbola Oyewo family of the Ese-Ola Royal House remembered him as a beloved family man, traditional leader, and an inspiration to generations of theatre practitioners.
