Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Saturday during the 40th anniversary celebration of Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello as the Chief Imam of Ado Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji also disclosed that the state government had taken the initiative to rehabilitate one of the federal roads independently.

According to a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor appealed to citizens to exercise patience and show understanding, emphasizing that both federal and state governments are committed to improving infrastructure across Ekiti.

“There’s been a lot of concern over the condition of our federal roads,” Oyebanji acknowledged. “But I want to assure our people that things are improving. The Federal Government has awarded contracts for three of the roads, and work on the remaining two will commence soon. The Ado–Ikere–Akure Road is also nearing completion.”

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to Ekiti’s development and for prioritizing critical infrastructure in the state. “We appreciate President Tinubu’s unwavering support. His administration’s action on the road projects is a clear demonstration of that support,” Oyebanji said.

He also provided updates on the Ekiti Agro Allied International Airport, announcing that the facility is awaiting final approval for commercial flight operations, having been granted a six-month window for non-scheduled flights last December.

“The airport project reflects a consensus among Ekiti leaders and stakeholders to open up our state to global economic opportunities,” Oyebanji noted.

In a tribute to Sheikh Kewulere Bello, the governor praised the Chief Imam for his decades-long service to both the Muslim community and Ekiti State. “You have been a symbol of peace, devotion, and unity. We thank Allah for your life and your tireless contributions to our state,” he said.

He also extended appreciation to the Muslim community for their support and cooperation. “To my Muslim brothers and sisters in Ekiti, thank you for your understanding, your trust, and your commitment to peace. Our relationship is something I truly cherish.”

Governor Oyebanji further applauded the presence of the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ekiti, Rev. Emmanuel Aribasoye, at the anniversary celebration, commending the interfaith collaboration that continues to strengthen peace and unity across the state.
