Ekiti Reps Caucus Raises Alarm Over Neglected Agriculture, Urges Swift Government Action

The lawmakers made this commitment during a recent tour of two major investments by Cavista Holdings — Agbeyewa Farms and the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort and Conference Centre — where they also commended the firm’s transformative contributions to agriculture and tourism.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the delegation was led by Hon. Femi Bamisile and included Hon. Rufus Ojuawo, Hon. Olusola Fatoba, and Hon. David Akinlayo.
The team was welcomed by top executives of Cavista Holdings, including Olumide Olayomi, Vice President and Executive Director; Lanre Balogun, General Manager of Glocient Hospitality (the Cavista subsidiary managing Ikogosi Resort); and Seyi Aiyeleso, MD/CEO of Agbeyewa Farms.
At Agbeyewa Farms, located in Ekiti, the lawmakers expressed deep admiration for the project’s scale, innovation, and socioeconomic impact — especially in the areas of food security, youth empowerment, and rural development.
“I used to think I had a farm, but after seeing Agbeyewa, I realised I only had a garden,” Ojuawo quipped.
Bamisile, drawing on his experience in the United States, added, “It amazes me that someone based comfortably in the US can still invest so heavily in agriculture back home. This goes beyond philanthropy — it’s visionary.”
Akinlayo, visibly impressed, said, “I’m proud that the Chairman of Agbeyewa Farms, John Olajide, is from my constituency. He has done remarkably well, and to support this effort, I’ll be sponsoring 100 youths from my constituency for training.”
The visit also included a stop at the iconic Ikogosi Warm Springs, which the lawmakers observed has been significantly revitalised under Glocient Hospitality’s management.
“During my recent visits, I was stunned by the transformation. The resort, once a shadow of itself, has been beautifully restored. Kudos to John Olajide and his team,” Ojuawo remarked.
Fatoba underscored the importance of collaboration between government and private sector stakeholders.
“We appreciate Governor Abiodun Oyebanji for his investment drive in Ekiti. We equally commend the patriotic commitment of John Olajide, Chairman of Glocient and Agbeyewa,” he said.
“As National Assembly members, we will do everything within our mandate to ensure that Agbeyewa Farms secures the needed support from relevant government agencies,” he added.

Friday, August 7, 2026: After a morning departure from his residence, a requiem mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oba-Ile. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at 12:45 p.m. at Labaluyegbe Villa, followed by a reception at Aderonmu Grammar School Field.
The Bangbola Oyewo family of the Ese-Ola Royal House remembered him as a beloved family man, traditional leader, and an inspiration to generations of theatre practitioners.
