This appeal was made in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim.
Idris addressed the concerns raised by media stakeholders over the recent decision by the Niger State Government to halt the station’s operations.
Reports indicate that Governor Umaru Bago issued the suspension order during an expanded All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting in Minna on Friday, citing alleged unethical broadcasting practices and incitement by the station.
While acknowledging the concerns, the Minister clarified that the authority to suspend broadcasting licenses legally resides with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
“In this context, the Minister welcomes the Niger State Government’s decision to formally lodge a complaint with the NBC regarding the alleged unethical conduct of Badegi FM,” the statement noted.
Idris urged all stakeholders to remain calm, assuring that the NBC has established procedures to address the matter fairly and impartially.
