Allegri Challenges Chukwueze, Milan Players: ‘Mental Balance Will Decide Our Season’

Published

on

AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has called on his players to maintain mental discipline as they gear up for the new season.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

His appeal came after Milan’s commanding 9-0 victory over Australian side Perth Glory in their final pre-season game of the Asia-Australia tour. The match featured goals from Filippo Terracciano, Christian Comotto, Samuele Ricci, Yunus Musah, Samuel Chukwueze, and braces from both Rafael Leao and Noah Okafor.

Chukwueze, who had been goalless for nearly five months, marked his return to the starting lineup with a goal in the first half. The Nigerian winger had earlier featured for 27 minutes in Milan’s 4-2 win over Liverpool in Hong Kong.

Speaking to Milan TV after the game, Allegri praised the tour’s productivity but reminded his squad that the real work starts once they return to Italy.

“We’ve had 25 solid days of training and several encouraging performances in our friendlies. It was a good tour,” he said. “But once we get back to Italy on August 5, it’s a different ball game—the season truly begins then.”

Milan experienced a mixed run during the tour, losing narrowly to Arsenal (1-0), defeating Liverpool (3-2), and thrashing Perth Glory.

Allegri emphasized the need for emotional stability throughout the campaign. “We must take things one step at a time. When things go well, we shouldn’t get carried away. And when we hit tough patches, we can’t fall into despair,” he warned.

“For me, mental balance is more important than tactics. The season is a long 38-game journey. You have to maintain a consistent rhythm throughout.”

Milan will return to Italy before facing Leeds United in Dublin and Chelsea in London in their remaining warm-up matches. Their competitive season begins on August 17 with a Coppa Italia clash against Bari.

Chukwueze, who made 26 Serie A appearances last season (nine starts), contributed three goals and two assists in 918 minutes. However, his future at San Siro remains uncertain, with Fulham reportedly expressing interest. Milan are said to be open to offers as they seek to cut costs and strengthen the squad.

He warned against dragging the state into fresh tension, accusing the state government of attempting to revive old allegations for political advantage.

Adewara said the PDP would not remain silent while what he called “political narratives” are used to influence public perception around a tragic incident that claimed multiple lives in Offa in 2018.

He also urged residents, especially affected families, not to allow their pain to be used for political gains, insisting it is unjust to associate Saraki with the crime.

The party further alleged that the move is aimed at distracting attention from governance challenges in the state.
