New Dawn in Public Service! Govt Organises High-Impact Training for Budget, Land Cadres

Announcing the initiative on Wednesday, the government described it as a strategic investment in building a more efficient and future‑ready workforce.
The Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, emphasized that the Lagos State Public Service must remain dynamic, agile, and responsive to the evolving demands of governance. He explained that these capacity‑building efforts are not mere periodic exercises but deliberate interventions aimed at equipping officers with the skills and mindset needed to deliver top‑tier services.
Ayantayo also credited Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu for his unwavering support for continuous professional development across the public service, describing it as a testament to the administration’s vision for a high‑performing bureaucracy.
As part of the initiative:

A two‑day training workshop themed “Strategic Corporate Communication and Media Relations” was held for 100 Public Affairs Officers (Grade Levels 13–17). The workshop focused on sharpening their skills in managing public perception, strengthening the state’s communication channels, and deepening citizen engagement.

Another session saw 200 Budget and Planning Officers trained under the theme “Budgeting and Fiscal Management,” with emphasis on modern budgeting techniques, fiscal discipline, and performance‑based implementation.

Similarly, 200 Land Officers participated in a training on “Land Documentation and Titling,” aimed at improving land administration, enhancing transparency, and accelerating the processing of Certificates of Occupancy and other land documentation.
According to the statement, all programmes lasted a minimum of two days and were facilitated by experts drawn from both the public and private sectors as well as academia.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Olubusola Abidakun, described the initiative as part of a broader, long‑term plan to strengthen the capacity of the state workforce. She noted that the third‑quarter training reflects a proactive approach to building a forward‑looking, performance‑driven public service.
