Speaking during a projects monitoring tour organized by the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to review the chairman’s first year in office, NULGE’s chairman in Warri South, Comrade Emiko Raymond, commended Isaac’s people‑oriented leadership.
According to him, Isaac was the first council chairman in the country to comply with the Federal Government’s directive to open a council account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to enable the direct lodgement of monthly federal allocations.
The councillors echoed similar sentiments, declaring that “Warri South LGA now sets the pace on many fronts.”
Comrade Raymond highlighted several initiatives spearheaded by the chairman, including:
-
Monthly transport stipends for council workers,
-
A medical health scheme for staff,
-
Monetary allowances for senior citizens in the area,
-
Bursaries for indigenous students in tertiary institutions, and
-
A ₦100 million soft loan scheme for market men and women.
The Supervisory Councillor for Environment, Hon. Femi Okorodiden, disclosed that to ensure the success of the newly launched “Operation Keep Warri Clean” campaign, the chairman recruited 100 environmental sweepers and 50 task force personnel, all on fixed monthly salaries.
He also revealed an ongoing bridge project designed to link Warri mainland through Ifiekporo to the emerging Atlantic City Island, a new housing scheme intended to attract investors.
Okorodiden further led journalists to various project sites, including Pessu Market and Igbudu Market, where channelization works have been carried out to curb persistent flooding in those areas.
In addition, the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, Hon. Amiwe Pinnick Mofe, announced that the council has acquired several acres of farmland and is making arrangements to embark on animal husbandry and cattle ranching as part of its agricultural development programme.
