Reports indicate that amid mounting economic hardship and shifting political loyalties, Northern analysts and grassroots leaders are weighing in on the coalition’s prospects and what it could mean for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview with Daily Post, political commentator Abdulkadir Ibrahim, widely known as Abba Gwale, observed that although Peter Obi has not formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), he is already regarded as a central figure in the emerging coalition.
“The key players in this coalition are mostly Northerners. Obi hasn’t joined the ADC yet, but we’re hearing he’s part of the movement and will soon switch parties,” Gwale said.
According to him, many Northern voters are energized by the idea of a united opposition and are determined to end President Bola Tinubu’s administration through the ballot.
Northern Voters Poised to Mobilize
Gwale emphasized that the region is primed for a massive turnout:
“Northerners will vote for whoever emerges under the coalition. They see it as the only path to end Tinubu’s government,” he added.
He also pointed to growing defections to the ADC, citing former APC governorship candidate Aishatu Binani as an example of high-profile politicians making the switch.
