Amid a wave of defections rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, all 25 members of the state House of Assembly elected on the party’s platform have reaffirmed their total loyalty to Governor Ademola Adeleke, dismissing speculations that they might jump ship.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This assurance was given on Wednesday during a media briefing in Osogbo, led by the Speaker of the House, Adewale Egbedun, who stood alongside the other 24 lawmakers.

In recent days, at least five federal legislators from Osun—including Senator Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central)—have dumped the PDP, sparking talk of a larger exodus. The defection streak began with Oluwole Oke (Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency) and was followed by Abimbola Ajilesoro (Ife Central/East/North/South) and Sanya Ominrin (Ijesa South), whose resignation letters surfaced online on Wednesday.

These high‑profile exits had fuelled fears that state lawmakers might follow suit, especially with heightened political maneuvering ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

But Egbedun swiftly put those rumours to rest:

“The 25 Honourable Members of the Osun State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the PDP are united, loyal, and fully committed to the government of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and to the party that brought us here,” he declared.

“There is no division in this House. There is no defection. There is no crisis. The rumours flying around are simply rumours. We, the Honourable Members, are men of honour. We are not for sale. We are not swayed by noise or pressure. We hold the mandate of our people, and we intend to keep that trust with dignity, loyalty, and a clear conscience.”

Egbedun emphasized that the lawmakers remain deeply connected to their constituents and highlighted Adeleke’s strong grassroots support:

“We come from the grassroots. We see and feel the pulse of the people every day. And let me say it without hesitation—the people of Osun are with this Governor. They see what he is doing. They feel the impact of his leadership. They know he is working, and so do we.”

He further pledged the Assembly’s backing for Adeleke’s second‑term bid:

“To be clear, we are not just here to defend what we believe. We are here to declare our full support for the Governor’s second term. In 2026, by the grace of God and the will of the people, we will return him to office to continue the good work he has started.”
