He Has Been So Hostile!” – Natasha Opens Up on Akpabio’s Alleged Persecution

The suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of waging a personal vendetta against her, describing the process that led to her suspension as illegal and unconstitutional.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly gate on Tuesday after her unsuccessful attempt to return to plenary, Akpoti‑Uduaghan insisted that she remains the duly elected voice of her constituents and that no legal ground exists to keep her out of the chamber.

She recalled that Justice Binta Nyako had already ruled that her suspension was “excessive and unconstitutional,” citing Section 63 of the 1999 Constitution, which obligates lawmakers to attend plenary at least 181 days a year.

“Denying me that opportunity violates my rights and the rights of my constituents,” she said.

According to her, the so‑called report used to justify her suspension was nothing more than a photocopied attendance sheet of the Senate’s Ethics Committee, rendering the entire process null from the outset.

Akpoti‑Uduaghan also linked the timing of her suspension to a petition she submitted alleging sexual harassment by the Senate President.

“This is clearly persecution,” she declared.
“Why was I suspended just a day after filing that petition? Why the threats, the attacks, and a fraudulent recall attempt? Why has Senator Akpabio been so hostile towards me?”

“Many Senators Are Afraid”

The lawmaker went further, describing Akpabio’s leadership as the worst the Senate has ever had, accusing him of stifling dissent.

“When I challenged him on the floor, it was not an outburst—it was the cry of someone enduring a year of institutional oppression. Many senators are simply too afraid to speak under him. This is not democracy,” she said.

Akpoti‑Uduaghan also dismissed the two federal criminal cases pending against her as frivolous, alleging that some witnesses lined up against her are individuals who ought to be in prison if Nigeria’s institutions were functioning properly.

“I am not on trial for corruption, embezzlement, drug trafficking, or murder. Meanwhile, some of the witnesses have files with the EFCC for looting public funds. If our systems worked, they would be in jail—not in the Senate,” she argued.

ADC Ticket Battle: Kwankwaso, Amaechi, Others Blast Atiku Over Supremacy Claims.

Published

on

A heated political exchange has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential race, as camps backing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s rivals push back against his claims of superior popularity, especially in the North.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso rejected Atiku’s assertion that he remains the dominant northern vote-getter, insisting that such claims do not reflect today’s political realities.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement, aligned with a potential Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, dismissed Atiku’s influence in the North as largely elite-driven, arguing that Kwankwaso enjoys more genuine grassroots support.

Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi also reacted, faulting Atiku’s position and questioning the logic of relying solely on regional identity as a basis for presidential ambition.

Atiku, in a recent interview, had maintained that none of his northern rivals, including Kwankwaso, can match his electoral strength, while downplaying Kwankwaso’s influence beyond Kano State.

His remarks sparked criticism across political circles, with some opposition figures describing them as arrogant and dismissive of other contenders.

Kwankwaso’s camp, however, maintained that both Kwankwaso and Obi have more “organic” support bases compared to politically induced followership, warning that such comments could deepen divisions within the ADC coalition.

Amaechi also argued that the ADC presidential ticket should be determined through a competitive primary rather than consensus, insisting that all aspirants should be tested at the ballot.

The growing disagreement highlights rising tension within the opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections, as key figures intensify positioning for the party’s presidential ticket.
