Forgery Gate: Kano Commission Drops the Hammer on Registrar, Assistant in Explosive Verdict

The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the demotion of a Court Registrar, Adamu Salisu, after finding him guilty of forging and falsifying affidavits of service.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Kano State Judiciary, Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, who explained that the decision was among the key resolutions taken at the Commission’s 84th meeting held on Friday.

According to Jibo-Ibrahim, Salisu was demoted from Grade Level 13 to Grade Level 12 and removed from his role as Registrar in charge of High Court No. 13.

He added that Salisu received a stern warning to refrain from any further unethical conduct or attempts to influence others to commit similar infractions, warning that any repeat offense could lead to stricter penalties, including criminal prosecution.

“The action was taken in line with the JSC’s mandate to uphold integrity and discipline within the judiciary,” the spokesperson said.

“Salisu forged a bailiff’s signature and unlawfully signed documents as a Commissioner for Oaths. He admitted guilt and was found liable for gross misconduct,” Jibo-Ibrahim stated.

He further revealed that Yusuf Ayuba, a Clerical Assistant attached to High Court No. 8, Miller Road, was also sanctioned after being found guilty of abandoning his duty post for four months without valid reason. Ayuba was demoted from Grade Level 5 to Grade Level 4 as punishment for gross misconduct.

“These measures are meant to serve as a deterrent to other staff and curb absenteeism,” Jibo-Ibrahim added, reaffirming the Commission’s zero-tolerance policy on misconduct and its commitment to enforcing discipline, accountability, and professional ethics across all levels of the judiciary

The 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) began nationwide on Thursday, with over 2.2 million candidates expected to participate across accredited centres.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The exam, conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will run from April 16 to April 22 in multiple daily sessions.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, urged examination officials to remain highly committed and professional, noting that the success of the exercise depends largely on their dedication.

He gave the charge during a virtual final briefing for technical officers ahead of the examination, where he also praised staff, ad hoc personnel, service providers, and technical advisers for their roles in the successful conduct of the mock exam.

Oloyede said many of the issues recorded during the mock exercise were due to poor assessment of centres by some technical officials.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.

Reiterating JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice, he warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into examination halls.

He also disclosed that biometric verification and real-time monitoring systems have been deployed to protect the integrity of the exercise.

Candidates whose biometrics cannot be verified, he added, will be rescheduled to write the exam at approved centres.

Meanwhile, a NAN correspondent monitoring proceedings at Aduvie International School, Jahi, reported that the first session scheduled for 8:30 a.m. began slightly behind schedule at about 8:40 a.m.
