In a statement signed by the Institute’s Principal and Chief Executive, Dr. Samuel Onoji, and made available to journalists in Warri on Monday, the management assured stakeholders of PTI’s integrity, excellence, and dedication to raising industry-ready professionals. It also called for sustained collaboration to promote truth, excellence, and professionalism in Nigeria’s oil, gas, and energy education sector.
According to the statement, PTI boasts one of the safest and most serene federal campuses in the country, well‑lit with functional solar-powered streetlights to ensure visibility and security at night. The Institute also maintains an average of 20 hours of electricity daily, drawing from both public supply and industrial-grade generators.
The management dismissed as baseless recent claims that classrooms were flooded or that students were studying under collapsed roofs, describing such reports as “unfounded fabrications with no evidence.”
“PTI classrooms, workshops, laboratories, and hostels are in good and habitable condition, maintained continuously by the Services Directorate. Lecture halls are roofed, properly ventilated, powered, and dry. No official or verifiable complaints from students have been recorded,” the statement clarified.
The Institute highlighted the active involvement of the Students’ Union Government and Hostel Governors, who reside on campus and regularly engage in governance and welfare monitoring to ensure standards are upheld.
PTI emphasised that it operates under strict accountability protocols, overseen by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Budget Office, and relevant auditing bodies.
Established by Act No. 52 of 1975 (PTI Act CAP P16, 2004), the Institute remains steadfast in its mandate to deliver instruction, training, research, and consultancy in oil and gas technology—producing technicians and technologists for the sector without compromising on its hallmark hands-on training model.
The statement recalled that PTI has historically trained personnel for sister African countries such as Angola, Benin Republic, Sao Tome and Principe, and Uganda, and provided foundational staff for Nigeria’s three major government refineries. In addition, both local and foreign tertiary institutions regularly send their engineering and science students to PTI for field study and practical training as part of their graduation requirements.
PTI’s credibility and regional relevance were recently reinforced when the Africa Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO) and representatives of the Republic of Niger visited the campus to explore bilateral training partnerships. APPO has already earmarked PTI as Africa’s Regional Centre of Excellence.
“The current administration is focused on developing staff capacity, modernising infrastructure, improving the quality of training, deepening industry collaborations and partnerships, promoting research, and enhancing the welfare of both staff and students,” the statement concluded.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
