“2027 Elections Heat Up: APC Strategist Omisore Promises to Outmaneuver Opposition Bloc
Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has said that while the emerging opposition coalition may appear strong on the surface, it could end up distracting its own members. According to him, the APC will continue to strategise and find the best ways to neutralise any perceived threat.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Omisore, speaking on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, maintained that he is not worried about the coalition, insisting it does not pose a serious challenge to the APC’s dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He dismissed the growing momentum of the coalition, arguing that internal power struggles over who would secure the presidential ticket could easily derail their efforts.
“No, I’m not worried at all,” Omisore said. “Because there are Ox among them, all of them have the same goal. After that meeting, Obi said he wants to be president, Atiku said the same, Rotimi said the same, and Tambuwal too. So, how are we sure they will remain together on this full list? Let’s wait and see. Politics is not mathematics; it’s about reality.”
He further noted that the main figures in the coalition—Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, and others—have individually contested in their states without preventing the APC from winning nationally in the past.
“Look at it,” he explained. “Rotimi Amaechi lost Rivers; El-Rufai lost Kaduna; we didn’t win Anambra or Edo where PDP governors are in charge—yet we still won at the national level. These things don’t necessarily add up.”
Omisore added that the coalition’s activities might even work in the APC’s favour by keeping them preoccupied:
“To an extent, it’s going to keep them busy. But as they get busier, we too will keep refining our strategies and find the best ways to cut them off. It’s good they have come together; at least, they will be busy doing something.”
