According to reports, the disciplinary action came in response to a probe committee’s findings, which detailed the brutal treatment of Usman Musa, an inmate at the facility.

A statement issued Friday night by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Faskari, confirmed the suspension of the Centre’s Principal, Abdulzahir Abubakar; Vice Principal, Bala Abubakar; and a porter, Yunusa Yusuf. Their suspension takes immediate effect due to their direct involvement in the abuse.

In addition, a casual staff member, Murtala Suleiman, was dismissed entirely from service in connection with the incident.

The statement, signed by the SSG’s Chief Press Secretary, Abdullahi Yar’adua, reiterated the government’s zero tolerance for human rights violations and its renewed push for comprehensive institutional reform.

“The Katsina State Government remains firmly committed to protecting the dignity and rights of all citizens. This action underscores our resolve to uphold justice and enforce accountability across all public institutions,” the statement read.

In a move to support the victim, Governor Radda also approved ₦970,000 for immediate medical treatment and an additional ₦35 million for a sensor-enabled prosthetic arm to aid his recovery and reintegration into society.

“This is not just about sanctioning the perpetrators—it’s about restoring hope and dignity to the victim,” Governor Radda declared.

The governor further adopted several recommendations from the investigation panel, which called for an overhaul of the reformatory centre to bring it in line with global correctional standards.

The committee, chaired by the Special Adviser on Public Administration and Service Reforms, Alhaji Usman Isiyaku, has been mandated to supervise the full implementation of the reforms to guarantee long-term improvements and enhanced welfare for all inmates.

APC Fires Back at Adeleke Over ₦300bn LG Funds Allegation, Blames Governor for Salary Crisis....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke that local government officials under the party diverted about ₦300 billion meant for workers’ salaries.

Adeleke had made the allegation during a stakeholders’ meeting, accusing APC-controlled council officials of hijacking funds and forcing the state government to shoulder salary payments for local government workers, teachers, health staff, and pensioners for over a year.

He insisted he would not abandon workers, blaming the situation for delays in executing some state projects.

But in a statement, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, dismissed the claims, accusing the governor of misleading the public and shifting blame.

The party alleged that Adeleke was responsible for the salary issues, claiming he refused to release electronic payment vouchers and other financial documents needed for processing payments.

APC also said pension-related records, leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and other financial data had not been made available despite repeated appeals, insisting that funds were properly accounted for and available for use if approved.

The party urged pensioners and workers to seek clarification, insisting the situation could be resolved if the governor allowed due process to take place.
