According to NIVONEWS, Adelakun—son of the late Ibadan political icon Busari Adelakun—spoke during a media briefing in Lagos, where he mocked the opposition alliance led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, which recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform. “These are the same individuals who ran the country aground. Now they think emergency alliances can override the wave of progress Tinubu is generating nationwide,” Adelakun said. “No emergency arrangement or coalition of political veterans can derail the president’s momentum.” According to NIVONEWS, he accused the coalition of banking on outdated and failed political tactics, warning that Nigerians have grown more discerning and will not be swayed by “strange bedfellows” who once squandered national goodwill. He added, “Even if Nigerians once had amnesia, the effects of their previous misrule are still very visible. We remember, and we reject them.” Adelakun commended President Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, citing the redirection of fuel subsidy savings to critical sectors, state-level palliatives, and aggressive food security investments as signs of deliberate and impactful governance. He also praised the Tax Reform Bill, saying it will help plug revenue leakages, enhance infrastructure delivery, and strengthen social services. “At a time when Tinubu is rebuilding national confidence, it is disappointing that some choose to distract the nation with recycled rhetoric and opportunistic alliances,” Adelakun stated. He further expressed confidence that some members of the opposition may eventually return to the APC after yet another failed election bid, noting that their disunity and lack of fresh ideas betray their true motivations.
