NIVONEWS REPORTS that the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to delivering meaningful reforms and driving sustainable economic growth for all Nigerians under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, Idris emphasized that despite the rising noise from political coalitions and opposition figures, President Tinubu remains undistracted and fully focused on implementing his administration’s transformative agenda.
He acknowledged the constitutional rights of Nigerians to freedom of speech and association but made it clear that the government will not be derailed by political distractions.
“The recent media buzz surrounding the formation of a new political coalition is understandable,” Idris noted. “But Nigerians have entrusted President Tinubu with a bold and transformative mandate under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which is already yielding tangible results.”
According to NIVONEWS, the minister outlined several key achievements of the administration over the past two years, including a significant drop in crude oil theft, renewed investor confidence in the oil and gas sector, easing inflation, and a stabilizing naira.
Idris further highlighted the government’s decisive action on national security, and the rollout of impactful programs benefiting millions—including students, artisans, and small business owners—through student loan schemes and broader access to consumer credit.
“Additionally, ongoing CNG vehicle conversions, improved public services, and critical infrastructure development are visible signs of progress,” he added.
He also pointed to the recent signing of four historic tax reform bills by President Tinubu, calling them among the most ambitious fiscal overhauls in the country’s history. These reforms, set to take effect in 2026, are expected to boost prosperity for households and businesses across Nigeria.
Just before this, Idris recalled, President Tinubu launched the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme—the most expansive mechanisation drive ever undertaken in Nigeria—as part of efforts to ensure food security.
While acknowledging that the rise of political coalitions reflects a vibrant democracy, Idris cautioned that some elements within these groups appear more focused on derailing national reforms than on offering genuine alternatives.
“The Tinubu administration will not be distracted,” he asserted. “We remain focused, determined, and fully committed to building a more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria for all.”

Key aspects of the petition include:
-
Allegations of False Representation: The petition challenges a November 3, 2025, letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which falsely claimed that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) had replaced acting national chairman Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum with Mohammed.
-
Contradictory NWC Records: Petitioners assert that the NWC’s November 1, 2025, emergency meeting actually resulted in the suspension of Anyanwu and three other officers due to alleged anti-party activities, and no record exists to support the claim that Damagum was suspended or Mohammed appointed.
-
Legal Precedents: The lawyers referenced an October 10, 2024, Federal High Court judgment that recognizes Damagum as the acting national chairman and prohibits INEC from accepting documents without his signature. Furthermore, they noted that the Court of Appeal upheld the NWC’s suspension of Anyanwu on March 9, 2026.
-
Call for Institutional Review: The petitioners have requested that the IGP investigate how INEC processed the contested November 3 letter despite being aware of the existing court orders and the NWC’s official resolutions.
-
Stated Objective: Counsel for the petitioner emphasized that the action is intended to address the integrity of public institutions and prevent the use of misleading internal party documentation, noting their readiness to provide supporting court judgments and party records to the police.
