At a conference held at the organisation’s headquarters, its President, Vincent Ibhaze, highlighted key policy decisions, while a statement co-signed by Ibhaze and Executive Secretary Ken Obue outlined the group’s position.

The statement noted the removal of the fuel subsidy as a major policy move. While controversial in the short term, the centre said it was necessary to reduce fiscal pressure, curb inefficiencies, and channel resources into infrastructure and social investments.

The organisation also applauded the government’s foreign exchange unification policy, aimed at stabilising the currency, boosting investor confidence, and eliminating distortions caused by multiple exchange rates.

Ongoing tax reforms were highlighted for expanding revenue, simplifying compliance, and reducing reliance on borrowing to strengthen fiscal sustainability.

Infrastructure development, including roads, railways, energy expansion, and digital innovation, was also praised as part of a broader strategy to improve productivity and stimulate industrial growth.

Social investment programmes, such as student loans and targeted welfare interventions, were acknowledged for mitigating the effects of economic adjustments and improving access to opportunities for Nigerians.

On security, the centre commended enhanced collaboration with international partners, particularly the U.S., in intelligence sharing and counter-terrorism, calling it vital for national stability and attracting foreign investment.

Ibhaze stressed that sustained reform implementation beyond the current administration could position Nigeria among top global economies like the UAE, China, and Singapore within two decades. He urged political parties to avoid politicising structural reforms, emphasizing that continuity, institutional strengthening, and bipartisan cooperation are key to achieving lasting national transformation.

The organisation concluded that while democratic debate is important, Nigeria must maintain reform momentum across political cycles to secure economic resilience, stability, and global competitiveness.

Speaking during the Ramadan Lecture organised by the Abdur Rasaq/Muheebah (ARM) Foundation in Mushin, Sheikh Salman praised the Tinubu administration for boldly addressing the nation’s challenges, noting that the gains of these efforts are beginning to show.

“The administration has taken bold steps, and the benefits are starting to manifest. We must support his re-election so he can consolidate these gains,” he said.

The cleric also encouraged Nigerians to pray for their leaders rather than curse them, stressing that Islam requires obedience and prayers for those in authority.

Sheikh Salman commended Rasaq Ajala, former Chairman of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, for his continued selfless service to the people even after leaving office. He urged politicians to prioritise empowering citizens and helping the needy, noting that few leaders follow Ajala’s example.

“You are not truly rich or a good Muslim if your wealth does not positively impact others. Ajala shows that serving the people goes beyond holding office. If more politicians did this, Nigeria would develop faster,” he added.

During the event, the ARM Foundation distributed food packs containing rice, garri, beans, and noodles to over 5,000 residents of Mushin.

The announcement was made by Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, during a meeting with Chief of the South African Army, Lt.-Gen. Lawrence Mbatha, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja. Mbatha is on an official working visit to Nigeria.

Shaibu explained that the collaboration aims to enhance the Nigerian Army’s operational capabilities and strengthen long-standing military ties between the two countries.

“The Nigerian Army aviation is very important to us. We are aware that the South African Army has a strong aviation capability,” Shaibu said. “We are currently developing our aviation programme and intend to leverage training opportunities in South Africa. This will allow our aviation capability to grow significantly in the coming years.”

The initiative reflects the army’s commitment to modernizing its aviation sector and boosting the skills of its personnel.
