“Bulletproof Resolve: NSA Says Nigeria Is Resilient Amid Waves of Terrorism”

National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has stated that the military’s efforts have been instrumental in preserving Nigeria’s resilience and stability amid ongoing security challenges.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to NIVONEWS, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu on Tuesday commended the military for its vital role in sustaining Nigeria’s resilience despite persistent security challenges. He made this known at the inauguration of the Joint Doctrine and Welfare Center Nigeria, established by the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Ribadu noted that the country’s security situation has significantly improved since the current administration assumed office. According to NIVONEWS, he praised the armed forces for their effective defense of Nigeria’s territorial integrity, democracy, and law and order, stressing that terrorists and insurgents are being pushed back, marking a decisive shift in the nation’s security landscape.

“The country has endured challenges that could have collapsed other nations, yet Nigeria remains strong,” he remarked.

Ribadu attributed this turnaround to swift and impactful reforms under President Bola Tinubu, stating that longstanding issues are now being tackled. He pointed to improved freedom of movement, especially in areas like Kaduna and Lokoja, which were once too dangerous to travel through.

This, he said, reflects real progress in restoring safety and security for ordinary Nigerians. Ribadu emphasized that while Nigeria is still far from perfect, the government’s growing capacity to respond to security setbacks is encouraging.

He dismissed exaggerated claims that vast swathes of the country are under the control of criminals, suggesting such narratives are often politically motivated or rooted in misinformation.

“People in rural areas are seeing the benefits—farmers are returning to their lands, businesses are reopening, clinics are back in operation. These are not just statistics; they reflect meaningful improvements in daily life,” he said.

He also described the newly inaugurated center as pivotal to reshaping the future of Nigeria’s military, urging the services to embrace innovation, synergy, and the principle of “jointness,” which modern warfare now demands.

“Let us leverage the potential of this center to confront complex challenges and shape the future of our armed forces in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Ribadu stated.

Also speaking, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, echoed the need for unified strategies to tackle Nigeria’s evolving security threats. He said the new center will help craft joint operational doctrines and promote continuous inter-agency collaboration, critical thinking, and shared strategic understanding.

“As we’ve come to realize, no single service or agency can singlehandedly overcome the diverse security threats we face. This center embodies the spirit of jointness and collective action,” Musa added.

The legal firm Ogbeide Associates, representing a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has submitted a petition to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, requesting a formal investigation into PDP secretary Samuel Anyanwu and factional National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Key aspects of the petition include:

  • Allegations of False Representation: The petition challenges a November 3, 2025, letter sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which falsely claimed that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) had replaced acting national chairman Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum with Mohammed.

  • Contradictory NWC Records: Petitioners assert that the NWC’s November 1, 2025, emergency meeting actually resulted in the suspension of Anyanwu and three other officers due to alleged anti-party activities, and no record exists to support the claim that Damagum was suspended or Mohammed appointed.

  • Legal Precedents: The lawyers referenced an October 10, 2024, Federal High Court judgment that recognizes Damagum as the acting national chairman and prohibits INEC from accepting documents without his signature. Furthermore, they noted that the Court of Appeal upheld the NWC’s suspension of Anyanwu on March 9, 2026.

  • Call for Institutional Review: The petitioners have requested that the IGP investigate how INEC processed the contested November 3 letter despite being aware of the existing court orders and the NWC’s official resolutions.

  • Stated Objective: Counsel for the petitioner emphasized that the action is intended to address the integrity of public institutions and prevent the use of misleading internal party documentation, noting their readiness to provide supporting court judgments and party records to the police.
