The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has reaffirmed that the party holds no bias toward any presidential aspirant, stressing that under his leadership, transparency will be the guiding principle of the party’s operations. According to NIVONEWS, Mark made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting with members of the ADC’s Kogi State chapter in Abuja.

He emphasized that all party members are “equal stakeholders, equal joiners, equal owners,” and that the ADC’s primary goal is to present a credible and appealing platform to the Nigerian electorate, not to anoint any individual. “We do not want this great ship called Nigeria to sink. If we don’t rise up now, we’ll all go down with it,” he warned.

Senator Mark added, “I don’t own this party more than any other member. Nigerians will soon see that the ADC is different — a party genuinely ready to run a functional democracy. All citizens must come together and claim ownership of the ADC.”

He called on party members to bury internal differences and unite behind a shared mission, saying, “Before anyone talks of ambition, we must first build the party together.”

Mark also challenged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), urging its members to stop targeting individuals and instead focus on addressing their administration’s failures. “If they admitted that insecurity was bad and promised to improve it but have made it worse, should Nigerians still trust them? The answer is no.”

According to NIVONEWS, the ADC accused the APC of plotting to destabilize its coalition by using non-ADC members to file legal actions against its interim leadership. The party noted that the names listed in the suit were not found in either the physical or digital registers of its chapters in Kogi or Nasarawa States, describing the move as a “desperate act of political sabotage.”

In response to the litigation, the ADC’s National Legal Support Group, led by Mohammed Sheriff, announced that 97 lawyers have volunteered to represent the party in court.

Meanwhile, the APC, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed ADC’s claims as baseless, accusing the opposition of engaging in “theatrics, deception, and preemptive excuse-making” for what it described as the party’s looming collapse. Morka said the ADC, now riddled with internal contradictions, had become an “agglomeration of failed politicians” lacking vision and credibility.

He further argued that the coalition forming under the ADC banner offers no viable alternative for governance and has failed to articulate a meaningful agenda beyond attacking President Tinubu and the APC.
