Pipeline Chaos Looms as Stakeholder Alleges Dirty Plot by Powerful Saboteurs
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to urgently wade into what a concerned stakeholder described as a “growing but misguided plot” allegedly being orchestrated by shadowy figures operating within the corridors of power, in a bid to sabotage the ongoing Pipeline Security Contract.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to ”NIVONEWS”, a stakeholder, Pastor (Dr.) Philip Yerinmene Gbasin, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene in what he described as a “thickening but ill-advised plot” allegedly being orchestrated by faceless individuals within the corridors of power to sabotage the pipeline protection contract currently being executed by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (alias Tompolo).
In an open letter to the President titled “The Thickening but Ill-Advised Plot Against High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo): Matters Arising,” Dr. Gbasin—who is a Doctoral Fellow at the Nigerian Institute of Contract, Projects and Facilities Management and the Nigerian Institute of Oil and Gas Research and Hydrocarbon Studies—warned that economic saboteurs were working behind the scenes to derail the progress made under the current security arrangement.
Gbasin, also a Senior Citizen and former Executive Director of Projects at DESOPADEC, referenced recent developments and media reports suggesting attempts to undermine the contract. He noted that such efforts could reverse the gains recorded since the award of the contract to Tompolo’s TANTITA Security Services.
“When the pipeline surveillance contract was awarded to Tompolo, national crude oil output stood at roughly 600,000 barrels per day due to rampant pipeline vandalism and oil theft. But within a few months of TANTITA’s operation, output surged to over 1.6 million barrels daily,” Gbasin stated.
He emphasized the unprecedented nature of this achievement, highlighting that no such progress was recorded in nearly two decades of previous contracts managed by others.
“What about the thousands of youths, men, and women across the Niger Delta who are employed under TANTITA? The ripple effect on families and communities is immeasurable,” he added.
Gbasin also reminded the President of Tompolo’s history of patriotic interventions in the oil sector, particularly during the militant crisis under the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. At the time, he recalled, national oil production plummeted to 700,000 barrels per day due to violent disruptions, forcing major companies to shut down operations and declare force majeure.
“Chevron Nigeria Ltd was the only company that continued uninterrupted operations across the region, thanks to Tompolo’s influence and leadership. He shielded billions of dollars’ worth of infrastructure from destruction without charging the company a kobo,” Gbasin noted.
He further cited Tompolo’s role in preventing sabotage of Chevron’s facilities during the Warri ethnic crisis, despite provocation from some factions. According to him, Tompolo’s commitment to national economic stability has been consistent, selfless, and effective.
“If other government agencies had delivered results like Tompolo has, Nigeria would be on its way to becoming a lender nation,” Gbasin declared.
He warned that those attempting to malign Tompolo and reverse his gains should be seen as true enemies of the Nigerian economy.
“In other countries, individuals like Tompolo would be decorated with national honours for their service to economic recovery and national security. It is not too late for Nigeria to do the same,” Gbasin concluded.
