According to NIVONEWS, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has announced a renewed security initiative targeting criminal elements using hotels as cover. The announcement came during a strategic meeting held at the Command Headquarters in Lafia with hotel owners and managers from all 13 local government areas of the state.
The Commissioner urged hospitality operators to maintain strict vigilance and prevent their establishments from being used as shelters or rendezvous points for cultists and other criminal elements.
A statement issued by the Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, revealed that CP Shettima had ordered a coordinated clampdown on all known and suspected criminal hideouts across the state.
The directive follows credible intelligence reports suggesting that cult groups are planning coordinated criminal activities to mark July 7th (7/7) in Nasarawa and other parts of the country.
“You are vital partners in our security architecture,” the CP told the hoteliers. “We count on you to act as the eyes and ears of your communities. Be vigilant, and report any suspicious gatherings or bookings without delay. If you see something, say something.”
The hoteliers, in turn, expressed support for the initiative and committed to working closely with law enforcement agencies to combat crime and uphold peace in Nasarawa.
Following the engagement, CP Shettima directed all tactical units to commence intelligence-driven raids on identified cultist hubs and criminal hideouts across the state.
He also instructed all personnel to maintain professionalism and ensure that human rights are respected throughout the course of the operations.
The Nasarawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all residents and encouraged citizens to remain law-abiding while sharing timely and credible information with security operatives.
