Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that the operation was based on a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
“On July 7, 2025, around 12:00hrs, officers from Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madawaki, acted on credible intelligence provided by a Good Samaritan,” Abdullahi said.
The police raided a suspected criminal hideout in Tudun Hayin Kwarai, Misau, Akko LGA, where they arrested two suspects — Misba’u Adamu, 25, from Alkaleri LGA in Bauchi State, and Adamu Ibrahim, 28, from Garko LGA in Kano State.
According to the police spokesperson, the duo confessed to breaking into the residence of one Mohammed Usman in Hayin Kwarin-Misau on July 6, at about 4:00am, where they stole two motorcycles: a Qlink Cassie (registration number ABC 484 WN) and a Hero Hunter (registration number GME 36 QL), collectively valued at ₦1.8 million.
The stolen bikes were later recovered from the premises of an individual identified only as Babangida, where they had been hidden. The suspects are currently in custody while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the gang leader and other accomplices still at large. They will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
In a separate operation, another motorcycle was recovered during a routine night patrol in the Wuro Birji area of Akko LGA.
“At about 1:00am on the same day, a patrol team noticed a suspicious individual riding a black Jincheng Kasea motorcycle (registration number DKU 099 UK). Upon sighting the officers, the rider abandoned the motorcycle and fled,” Abdullahi added.
Although the suspect escaped, the abandoned motorcycle has been taken into custody. Investigations are underway to identify the suspect and return the bike to its rightful owner.
DSP Abdullahi urged residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities, stressing the command’s ongoing commitment to securing lives and property.
