In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Zulum dismissed the rumours as baseless, describing them as the handiwork of “unscrupulous elements” trying to stir political unrest and gain relevance through falsehoods.
The governor labeled the report as a complete fabrication, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leadership.
“We have come across a fictitious and deliberately misleading social media post alleging that I, alongside five other governors, plan to defect from the APC to the ADC. This claim is entirely false and exists only in the minds of those peddling it,” the statement read.
“These are the same detractors who have made no tangible contributions to the progress of Borno State or Nigeria. Their only goal is to sow discord and generate needless political anxiety.”
Zulum reiterated his loyalty to the APC, stating that his focus remains on the continued development and reconstruction of Borno State.
“I remain committed to the APC and fully dedicated to the mission of restoring and rebuilding our beloved state. I urge the people of Borno and Nigerians at large to disregard these political distractions. We are too busy with the serious work of governance to entertain such trivialities.”
He also called on the media and the public to rely on verified information from credible sources and ignore attempts to mislead through fabricated stories.
“We remain steadfast in our service to Borno State under the banner of our great party, the APC,” he concluded.
