The Ogun State Police Command has heightened security across all divisions and area commands in response to intelligence reports suggesting plans by cult groups to commemorate a “777” anniversary event.
In a statement issued Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the police warned that any attempts to stage unlawful gatherings, processions, or cult-related activities would be met with immediate and firm enforcement action.
“The Command has reinforced security operations across all Divisions and Area Commands to maintain peace and order,” Odutola said. “Any cult-linked gathering or procession will be swiftly dispersed.”
The statement also called on parents and guardians to closely monitor their children’s movements and discourage them from participating in suspicious gatherings or loitering in public.
“Youths are strongly advised to avoid clustering or loitering in public places. Security personnel will act decisively against any gathering that threatens public peace,” the police warned.
Additionally, the Command cautioned that anyone found in possession of firearms or weapons during this period would be arrested and prosecuted.
Odutola reiterated the police’s commitment to ensuring safety and lawfulness across Ogun State and encouraged residents to carry on with their legitimate activities while cooperating with security agencies.
